Race  Analysis  System

RaceTek’s Integrated Race Analysis System combines four key elements:  

      1. Race Plan Model,
      2. Practice Plan Model,
      3. Video Race Analysis (VRA)
      4. CompTrak Model.

These elements work together in a systematic performance cycle providing high quality analytical tools for coaches and swimmers.

Race Plan / Practice Plan

The Race Plan is a “real time” data stream created from a performance data-base of the best swimmers in the World.  However, the Race Plan is modified and scaled down to fit the Target Time and size of the swimmer. The Race Plan is the starting point in RaceTek’s Integrated Race Analysis System.

The Practice Plan is created simultaneously from the Race Plan, taking the key elements and displaying them in a simpler format.  These elements (starts, turns, splits & finishes) can be practiced regularly in workouts.  The Practice Plan comes with the Race Plan.

The Practice Q-Card can be used for an easy data reference “on deck” during workouts or competitions. If possible, laminate the Q-Card.

Video Race Analysis

The Video Race Analysis (VRA) has two parts:

Part One is a Race Video file (.mp4) taken from the best possible vantage point at the competition which are made available during the competition on RaceTek’s “Cloud” storage/delivery site (DropBox or One-Drive).  Online links will be provided.

Part Two is VRA Data – a “real time”  Race Data Report (.pdf).  This report measures key swim metrics data elements that can be used to objectively evaluate a race (Starts, Turns, Finishes and Split Times; Distance per Strokes; Stroke Rates & Stroke Counts).  After the competition, VRA data is imported into a Personal or Group CompTrak Model.

CompTrak

The CompTrak Model is a comparative performance data tracking model which displays VRA Data in a one-line entry format.  Each CompTrak entry is displayed so that it can be compared to previous performances, Race Plan data, Records Models and World Average performance data.  The end result is a personal or group CompTrak Model Report.

This report allows the swimmer/coach to isolate and compare data for starts, turns, distance per stroke, stroke counts, stroke rates, splits and finish.  The swimmer/coach is also able to monitor performance progressions, strengths and areas of improvement.

The Integrated Race Analysis System Flow-Cycle

The System Flow-Cycle Graphic shows the order of the four key elements starting with the creation of a Race Plan – “Plan the Race“.

From the Race Plan data, a Practice Plan is also created to isolate key elements for practice in workouts, time trials & mid-season competitions– “Practice the Plan”.

After sufficient practice of the key elements, a Video Race Analysis (VRA) should be requested at mid-season and season-end competitions – “Race the Plan”.

To Track the performance, VRA Data is imported into a CompTrak Model for comparisons with RacePlan, Records or World Average – “Track the Race”.

At the centre of the system you will notice that  Technique Analysis is an on-going commitment interjected at regular intervals during the season.  

At this point, the System Flow-Cycle starts again…
